Artificial Intelligence and People: A partnership for the future

At FNB, we deeply value technical knowledge, but we know that its true impact comes from sharing. When knowledge flows freely, it expands and becomes a powerful force that inspires teams, streamlines processes and contributes to the development of communities.

This spirit guides our participation in events such as Moztech, Mozambique’s leading technology fair, which in its 2025 edition focused on key topics shaping both the present and the future: digital transformation, cybersecurity, and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

More than a simple institutional presence, our involvement reinforces our commitment to innovation and continuous development, fostering the sharing of knowledge that truly makes a difference — for our employees, our clients, and the wider market.

In the session dedicated to Artificial Intelligence, we aimed to demystify the concept and reflect on its practical application in the Mozambican business context, addressing current and essential topics. AI is essentially the ability of machines and systems to learn, perceive, reason, and even communicate by mimicking human intelligence.

We discussed why AI is so relevant to businesses: it automates tasks, supports data-driven decision-making and improves overall efficiency. We also explored how AI has evolved, especially through models that combine language understanding with factual data retrieval to provide more accurate responses. Among its current advantages are cost reduction, greater analysis of our data and faster response times, all crucial in today’s business world.

Finally, we emphasized the importance of using AI responsibly, with ethics, continuous training, and a clear strategic vision to ensure technology makes a positive difference. To make this idea more relatable, we shared a simple analogy: AI is like a very efficient intern — learns quickly and performs well but always needs guidance. Therefore, it’s not about replacing people, but about empowering human capacity, allowing everyone to focus on what truly requires creativity and judgment.

More than just showcasing a technology, we aimed to promote a different way of thinking.

AI should not be seen as a threat but as a strategic ally, provided it is understood, used responsibly and applied to real-world goals.

"Artificial intelligence will not replace people. But people who use AI will replace those who don’t." — Satya Nadella

Participating in this panel, alongside representatives from companies such as PHC and Ernst & Young, and moderated by journalist Mustafa Leonardo, was an opportunity to share perspectives and enrich the national debate on innovation. Artificial intelligence can indeed have a profound impact on Mozambique, but this impact will be even greater when more people understand, use, and adapt it to their context. And it all starts with a simple conversation, clearly explained, and accessible to everyone.

At a time when the world is reinventing itself at high speed, shared knowledge is one of the most powerful ways to prepare teams and organizations for what’s next. That’s why initiatives like this are not just about technology, they are, above all, about access, inclusion, and empowerment.
